Sode no Shirayuki, also known as “Sleeve’s White Snow,” is Rukia’s zanpakuto and a truly beautiful sword indeed. In shikai it is labeled as “dance.” After great injury at a Hollow attack, her Shinigami powers are transferred to Ichigo, who saves her life and takes her to live with him in his mortal abode.
This sword is completely white in its shikai, which is why it is known as the “most beautiful sword in Soul Society.” The tsuba is a circle with white ribbon forming from the pommel. Similar to Kaname Tosen’s Suzumushi and Kisuke Urahara’s Benihime, Sode no Shirayuki carries multiple abilities.
Rukia creates a circle of influence, surrounding her target and freezing anything in its path, from the ground up to the sky with the command, “first dance, white moon!” The second command, “next dance, white ripple” allows her to thrust an enormous wave of ice from its blade whereas the third command, “third dance, white sword” lets Rukia reforge her sword to send ice particles which pierce any objects in its path, freezing anything surrounding its target.
